Thanks for reading Good Thoughts! (If you’re new to the blog, a good place to start could be my 2022 in Review post. Or just browse the “top” posts listed at the bottom of the page…)
We’re fast approaching 3000 subscribers—it’s very gratifying to have so many people find my writing worth their time. (It’s pretty rare for academics to have more than a handful of people read their work!) I especially appreciate the folks who stop to ‘like’ and comment on some of my posts—the boost to engagement is just what I hoped for when I switched to Substack.
A new feature I’ve just enabled is “subscriber referrals”, where you can get (nominal) “credit” for referring others. If there are any super-fans out there who think their friends might benefit from some Good Thoughts, you can help make it happen via the button below. I don’t have content held back to offer by way of “rewards” (your subscription is already free!), so there’s no real incentive to do this beyond whatever intrinsic motivation you might independently have. But as you’ll see below, I did in the end come up with three (slightly goofy) ways of saying “thank you!” if you do end up sending a bunch of new readers my way.
How to participate
1. Share Good Thoughts. When you use the referral link below, or the “Share” button on any post, you'll get credit for any new subscribers. Simply send the link in a text, email, or share it on social media with friends.
2. Earn “benefits” (if you want to call them that). When more friends use your referral link to subscribe, you’ll receive:
A good thought for 3 referrals
Early access to a future thought (my current “work in progress”—currently a draft paper on moral importance) for 5 referrals
An invitation to suggest a future post topic for 15 referrals
